Welcome to St. Anthony’s Church

We kindly ask that you respect our Parish Church guidance:

¨ People displaying any symptoms of Covid should stay at home and not travel to church or participate in person.

¨ Hand sanitiser is available to those attending Church.

¨ The use of face masks is advised but is a personal choice.

¨ The use of hymn books and other worship aids are permitted as part of the liturgy.

¨ Whenever possible, please try to avoid sitting or standing too close to other parishioners when attending public acts of worship.

¨ The Sign of Peace will still continue without physical contact.

¨ Holy Communion will continue to be given on the hand and not on the tongue.

¨ People who are engaged in a form of pastoral ministry which involves ministry to the housebound, sick and vulnerable, are advised to take regular lateral flow tests to ensure they are safe to do so.

 

Mass times:

Mondays to Saturdays: 9.30am

Sunday Masses:             6pm (Saturday evenings); 9.30am;  11.15am and 5.30pm.

Every Wednesday (after the 9.30am Mass):  Stations of the Cross

Every Friday at 7:30pm:   Adoration, Benediction and The Stations of the Cross.

Please note that after week day masses The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for 30 minutes so that parishioners can pray for world peace.

Recently Deceased: Please pray for the souls of Mrs Wladyslawa Kozakiewicz and Mrs Nora Mary Bourke.

Mrs Wladyslawa Kozakiewicz’s funeral will be on Thursday 2nd March at 12.30pm followed by the committal at Elmer’s End Cemetery at 2pm.

Mrs Nora Mary Bourke’s funeral will be on Friday the 17th March at 11am followed by the committal at Elmer’s End Cemetery at 12.30pm.

Please also pray for the souls of Philip James Cole and Vincenzo Lanzante who died recently and had funerals during February.

May all their souls rest in peace. 

 

Sunday Teas: Sunday teas and coffees are served in the Parish Centre after the Sunday 9.30am mass.

This month the following groups will be serving the teas:

5th March: The Knights of St Columba

12th March: The Parish Pastoral Council

19th March: The Union of Catholic Mothers

 

Choir Practice for the 9.30am Sunday Mass: We will have a choir practice on Sunday 19th March from 2 – 3pm at the Church.  If you are thinking about joining the choir as a singer or musician or have any suggestions to make, you are very welcome to come along. 

Living and Sharing Discipleship Joy – A Day of Evangelising Formation:

This hope filled and empowering day will be on Saturday 29th April from 9.30am – 3.30pm at the Parish Hall of the Sacred Heart Parish, Wimbledon, SW19 4LU and is designed for those in various roles of parish ministry.  Both active parishioners in the areas of evangelisation, catechesis and formation and parish ministry leaders will come away with spiritual insights and practical skills to apply broadly in their lives and ministry.  The day will be led by Tom Quinlan who is the Director of the St Joseph’s Evangelization Centre (Iowa), a published author and national Catechetical Leader.  Come with an openness to be surprised, challenged and inspired. The Holy Spirit will be amongst us!

Engaged Encounter: Marriage Encounter is a national Catholic organisation that offers two experiences to enrich relationships, improve family relationships and brings God to the heart of marriages and families.  The experiences are available online or in person.  For further information and book an experience please visit their website: https://wwme.org.uk

Archdiocese of Southwark Lent Retreat, 2023: ‘Renewed in Hope’: Make some space to develop your relationship with God this Lent. Sign up for the Diocesan Lent Retreat “Renewed in Hope”.  Every week you will receive an email with links to a 20 minute video in which Archbishop John will introduce the theme and the reading. Chris Chapman will deliver the retreat programme and a witness will speak of the relevance in their daily life. Top of the Pew Quiz Competition 2023: The Parish is looking for a group of quizzers to represent the Parish in the return of Bromley’s Top of the Pew Quiz.  This is a multi round competition and the hope is that around 30 churches will take part this year.  The St Anthony’s team will be made up of four quizzers, a question master (to write questions for rounds where other churches are competing) and an assistant to help with time keeping during the competitions.  The object of the initiative is to get to know people from other churches and denominations and to have fun.  In addition thousands of pounds are raised for local charities.  If you are interested in knowing more then please contact Michael (from the Parish Council) on 07931 991605. 

UCM Annual Pilgrimage: The UCM have an annual pilgrimage to Aylesford on Saturday 20th May and would like to invite other mothers of the parish to join them.  Further information will be given out nearer the time.

Local Food Bank: Please help support families in need by contributing to the local food bank. If you would like to donate then please leave your donations at the back of the Church.
