Welcome to St. Anthony’s Church

We kindly ask that you respect our Parish Church guidance:

¨ People displaying any symptoms of Covid should stay at home and not travel to church or participate in person.

¨ Hand sanitiser is available to those attending Church. PLEASE use the hand sanitiser when entering and leaving the church.

¨ We continue to encourage the use of face coverings by those attending public acts of worship.

¨ The use of hymn books and other worship aids are permitted as part of the liturgy.

¨ Whenever possible, please try to avoid sitting or standing too close to other parishioners when attending public acts of worship.

¨ The Sign of Peace will still continue without physical contact.

¨ Holy Communion will continue to be given on the hand and not on the tongue.

¨ People who are engaged in a form of pastoral ministry which involves ministry to the housebound, sick and vulnerable, are advised to take regular lateral flow tests to ensure they are safe to do so.


Mass times:

Mondays to Saturdays:  9.30am (except 8th September when the Mass will be at 7.30pm)
Sunday Masses:              6pm (Saturday evenings);  9.30am;  11.15am and 5.30pm.

Adoration and Benediction is every Friday 7.30pm.

Please note that after week day masses The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for 30 minutes so that parishioners can pray for world peace.

Sunday Teas:

Sunday teas and coffees are served in the Parish Centre after the Sunday 9.30am mass.

This month the following groups will be serving the teas:

4th September:            The Knights of St Columba

11th September:           The Parish Pastoral Council

18th September:  The Union of Catholic Mothers


Cake Sale for Charity: Please note that the UCM will be holding a cake sale with the teas and coffees after the 9.30am Mass on Sunday 2nd October.  All proceeds will go to the Macmillan Cancer Charity.

Recently Deceased: Please pray for the soul of Brenda Ryan.

The funeral will take place at 10.00am on Thursday 8th September.  The committal will be at Beckenham Crematorium at 11.45am.  May her soul rest in peace.
Please note that there will not be a morning Mass on Thursday 8th September. 

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and Readers: After two years of Covid disruption, there will be a formation day on Saturday 8th October for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist and Readers.  The theme will be Understanding and Celebrating the Eucharist: Post Pandemic. If you are an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist or a Reader and would like to attend this formation day then please let Father Sunith know. 

Are you a musician or a singer? If you would like to join in with the music on a Sunday morning (9.30am Mass) then please do come along.

Are you interested in helping out with the church flowers?  The flower arrangers currently meet after the Friday morning mass.  Please come along if you are interested in helping out. Support and guidance will be available.

Returning to the Church: If you wish to encourage someone to return to the church, please find at the back of the church ‘Come Home’ cards and booklets on ‘The Ultimate Relationship’, provided by the Archdiocese of Southwark. 

Local Food Bank: Please help support families in need by contributing to the food bank held at neighbouring Christ Church. If you would like to donate then please leave your donations at the back of the Saint Anthony’s Church.

Parish Pilgrimage:  The Parish Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of St Jude in Faversham, Kent will be on Saturday 24th September.  The cost of the Pilgrimage is £30 which includes a donation to the shrine and travel to Whitstable in the afternoon.  The coach will leave St Anthony’s Church at 8am prompt and will return in time for the 6pm evening Mass.  Please see for further information about the site.  If you are interested in going on this Pilgrimage, bookings and payment will be taken after all masses. 

Financial Support: We kindly appeal to your generosity to add an extra pound to your donations to help the Church cope with rising energy prices.  We appreciate your continued care and support for our parish community, especially with the uncertainty and financial instability the pandemic has brought both households and parish.  Parishioners can contribute directly to the Parish bank account: Natwest Bank Beckenham Branch, Sort Code 60-02-12 and Account Number 46000208. Tax payers, please join the Gift Aid programme allowing our parish to increase the value of every donation it receives from tax payers by 25%. We value your assistance in maintaining our wonderful Parish community.  Please note that the name of the Parish Bank Account has changed to RCAS St Anthony of Padua Anerley.  The sort code and account numbers are unchanged. 

Step In​to the Gap programme for 18-30 year olds: ​CAFOD, in partnership with their UK placements, offers the exciting opportunity to spend a fully funded year volunteering in a retreat centre or school chaplaincy, where you will work alongside the Catholic community and others to bring about a more just world. Sisters of St Andrew (Lewisham): On Saturday the 24th September there will be a day of reflection and celebration in the Season of Creation with Sr Regula.  Please contact if you would like further information or are interested in booking a place.
