Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

Mass Readings: Pages 251 – 255
Order of Mass: Pages 6 – 60

Seeing is believing’; the witness of the apostolic group to the resurrection of Jesus.  This witness we are invited to rely on and to share ourselves.  Then we begin the process by which newness of life becomes a reality for us just as it did for the apostles. Forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ—this is the message of the Church for our age too, to be preached ‘in sincerity and in truth’.

We know there are so many horrors throughout the world.  Let us hope that they will not be made worse over the Easter period.  Let us more positively hope and pray that there may be greater peace, more joy, more prayer, so that God’s human race may allow him more opportunity to work out his will through us.  We surely have to go through Holy Week to come to Easter.  Our Passion, our Holy Week, is the living of life here day by day.  This is the common plan for all people.  It varies—some live a short time, some a long time—some seem to have a huge dose of pain—some seem to have very little.  Well—what each of us should do is to start where we are and live from there.  So, in the yearly calendar, we have come through to Easter—with all its joy.  Please enjoy it!  And this will mean joining the central point of the festival—Jesus risen from the dead.  Alleluia!  This is the day the Lord has made.  Alleluia!

It would be lovely if as many past and present parents and friends of Coloma attended this event. It will be held at Hilton Hotel, 101 Waddon Way, Purley Way, Croydon, CR9 4HH.  Tickets are priced at £50 which includes a welcome drink, a 3 course meal, half a bottle of wine per person, live entertainment from Aloma Music.  The Ball commences at 7pm and ends at 1am. St Anthony’s Car Share?:  Due to costs, our minibus service taking older and less mobile parishioners to mass will in future only run once per month. On the positive side, this provides an opportunity for parishioners to help in a very practical way. Would anyone prepared to take a parishioner to mass?  Please contact a member of the parish council if you are interested.  It is unlikely that anyone could do this every week. Hence, a pool of car-share parishioners would be ideal. Depending on the response, the parish council will organise a rota including flexibility to allow for holiday, illness, or other commitments. Thank you.
