Most Holy Trinity

Mass Readings: Pages  81 – 83

Order of Mass: Pages 6 – 60

First Reading:  Wisdom is portrayed as existing before creation and as having assisted at creation.  Wisdom here has always been understood by the Church as referring to Christ, the second person of the Trinity.

Psalm:  the psalmist praises the first Adam who is “little less than a god”, but we pray the psalm to praise the second Adam, Christ, under whose feet all things will be put.

Second Reading:  we can look forward to God’s glory thanks to the work of Jesus and of the Spirit.

Gospel:  in His Farewell Discourse to the disciples, Jesus closely links the Father, the Son, and the Spirit of truth.  The Son was charged to accomplish the Father’s work, but after Jesus’ departure the Spirit will lead the disciples in that mission.
