Pentecost Sunday
Mass Readings: Pages 294 – 298
Order of Mass: Pages 6 – 60
First Reading: the famous account of Pentecost in Acts, which strikes terror into the hearts of Mass readers with all the names! Pentecost was one of the most momentous events in the history not just of the Church but of the whole world.
After the Pentecost Psalm the Second Reading is either from the first letter to the Corinthians (in the one Spirit were we all Baptized) or the letter to the Romans (everyone moved by the Spirit is a son of God).
The Sequence is obligatory at Mass during the Day, and it should be sung if at all possible.
The Gospel is either from John 20 (as the Father sent me, so am I sending you: receive the Holy Spirit) or from John 15 & 16 (the Spirit of truth will lead you to the complete truth).
