Welcome to St. Anthony’s Church

We kindly ask that you respect our Parish Church guidance:

¨ Please turn off your mobile phone when you enter the Church.

¨ Please remember that many parishioners like to pray before and after the mass so please be respectful and keep talking/noise to a minimum.

¨ People displaying any symptoms of Covid or Flu should stay at home and not travel to church or participate in person.

¨ Hand sanitiser is available near the entrances to the Church.

¨ The use of face masks is a personal choice.

¨ Holy Communion can now be received on the tongue or on the hand and The Sign of Peace can now be carried out with handshakes (if you so wish).

Mass times:

Mondays to Saturdays: 9.30am (and 7.30pm on Tuesdays);

Sunday Masses: 6pm (Saturday evenings); 9.30am;  11.15am and 5.30pm.

Every Friday at 7:30pm: Adoration and Benediction.

Please note that after every week day mass (except Wednesdays) The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for 30 minutes so that parishioners can pray for world peace. 

The Angelus

The Angelus will be said every Saturday at 6pm, before the evening Mass, and after the 11.15am Mass on Sunday.

Sunday Teas: The next Sunday teas will be served by the following groups:

4th February:  The Knights of St Columba

11th February: The Parish Pastoral Council

18th February: The Union of Catholic Mothers

Recently Deceased:

Please pray for the souls of Patricia Mary Bernadette Crowley, Stephen Noel Maloney “Noel”, Margaret (Peggy) King and Luc Laretivec who died recently.

Patricia Crowley’s funeral will be on Friday 2nd February at 11am followed by the committal service at Beckenham Crematorium.

Noel’s funeral will be on Wednesday 7th February at 11.30am followed by the burial at Beckenham Cemetery at 1pm.

The dates of the funeral masses for Margaret (Peggy) King and Luc Laretivec are to be confirmed.  Details will be on the notice board and will be announced at mass.

May all of their souls rest in peace.

Please remember to check the notice boards for details of recent bereavements and funerals. 

Choir Practice for 9.30am Sunday Mass: There will be a choir practice from 3-4pm at the Church on Sunday 18th February.  All are welcome.

Synod 2021 – 2024: We had parish listening meetings in 2021 as part of the preparation for the Synod of bishops in Rome in October 2023. In preparation for the next meeting of the bishops in October 2024, the Archbishop is asking for views on mission in the Church – what do we do well, what could we do better to bring the Gospel to the world. Please come along to the Parish Centre from 7.30 to 9.00pm on Thursday 22nd February to hear from one another our thoughts on being a missionary church.

Parish Quiz Night: There will be a Parish Quiz Night on the 23rd February.  Further details will be put on the notice board and announced at masses.

Financial Support: We appreciate your continued care and support for our parish Community.  Parishioners can contribute directly to the Parish bank account: Natwest Bank Beckenham Branch, Sort Code 60-02-12 and Account Number 46000208. Tax payers, please join the Gift Aid programme allowing our parish to increase the value of every donation it receives from tax payers by 25%. We value your assistance in maintaining our wonderful Parish community.  Please note that the name of the Parish Bank Account is RCAS St Anthony of Padua Anerley.  

Divine Mercy Afternoon of Reflection: Saturday 10th February from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at St George’s R.C. Cathedral, Westminster Bridge Road, London  SE1 7HY.

The reflection will include teachings on the Message of Mercy, Holy Mass, Way of the Cross, Hour of Mercy with Adoration and Benediction and Veneration of the Image of Merciful Jesus.  All welcome.  Please call Millie on 07957594646 for more information.

Vocations Weekend for Women (20s and 30s): A vocations weekend is being organised by the Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) and is open to women in their 20s and 30s.  The theme is Discerning God’s Call in Your Life.  To be held on 16th – 18th February weekend in Liverpool.

If you are wondering if God is calling you to religious life and would like to find more why not come along?  You are welcome to stay for the weekend or just come along on Saturday for the day.  There will be opportunities for prayer, reflection and input.  A chance to ask questions and to meet others who are also wondering where God is calling them.  For more information contact Sr Lynne fcj at fcjvocationeurope@gmail.com or visit our website www.fcjsisters.org

Young Bakers: Love Productions is currently casting for the new series of Junior Bake Off for Channel 4.  They are looking for children aged 9 – 11 years old who are enthusiastic bakers to take part.  Please visit www.applyforjuniorbakeoff.co.uk for further information.  Applications close on Sunday 17th March 2024.

School Governor Required: Laleham Lea Catholic Independent School is looking to appoint a Governor to join their dedicated Governing body.
