Fourth Sunday of Easter

Mass Readings: Page 261 – 263

Order of Mass: Pages 7– 4

First Reading: Peter (and John) are brought before the Sanhedrin, the Jews’ supreme court, and courageously Peter says that the only name by which we can be saved is the name of Jesus.

Psalm: this is the psalm from which Peter quotes in his speech in the First Reading.

Second Reading: we cannot see clearly into the future, but we can be confident that as children of God we shall one day become like God.

Gospel: today is known as Good Shepherd Sunday, as in all three Years the Gospel is taken from chapter 10 of John.  Jesus says that He alone is the true good shepherd (just as He is the true bread from heaven and the true vine).  He has been prepared to lay down His life for His sheep.
