Second Sunday of Easter
Mass Readings: Page 255 – 258
Order of Mass: Pages 7– 47
First Reading: the very first Christians were completely united, in their belief (especially in the resurrection of the Lord) and in their fellowship (especially in their support of those in need).
The Psalm is above all a song of thanksgiving and rejoicing.
The Second Readings in Eastertide in Year B are taken from the first letter of St John. Right belief – in Jesus as the Christ – and love of God – by keeping his commandments – go together in the person who (by Baptism) is a child of God.
The Easter Sequence may be sung today.
The Gospel on the Second Sunday of Easter is always John’s account of the risen Jesus’ appearance a week (‘eight days’ in the Hebrew counting system) after the resurrection itself. Thomas may have been doubting, but he becomes a model of faith, recognising Jesus as “my Lord and my God”.
Although today is Divine Mercy Sunday, the readings and prayers at Mass are always those of the Second Sunday of Easter.

Knights of St Columba: When did we see you thirsty? (Matthew 25:31-46) During Lent let us think of the people thirsting for God’s word. What can we do to help them? The Knights of St Columba were formed on the principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity, with the most important being Charity. This is at the heart of all our actions. The Lord regarded acts of mercy and charity as being most important. Therefore we invite more Catholic men to become more involved in the Lay Apostolate and Evangelising. If you are interested. Please contact: Knights of St Columba, 75 Hillington Road South, Glasgow G52 2AE Tel: 0141 883 5700 http://www.ksc.org.uk
Prams and Buggies: Adequate parking space for prams & buggies has been created in the Narthex. If you must bring prams and buggies into the church, please ensure that you do not block any of the doorways, as all are used as fire-escapes. Health & Safety regulations require that all doorways be kept clear at all times.
